When you look upon a sword all you see is the cold steel, the startlingly keen edge the promise of pain and death. The stereotypes are well earned throughout history swords while not inherently good or evil are undeniably associated with the taking of lives. Every sword has a story from the moment it is cast to the moment it lays broken or forgotten, unused, discarded. What if the sword did have a say in whether it would accomplish good or evil. What if a sword had a mind of it’s own as it were. Such was the case with a particular sword passed on father to son for untold years.
Both the sword and the man who now possess it stand silent in the night watching the raiding of the nearby village that until recently had been their hiding place. Now rushed with the swarm of soldiers, it lay bare and burning, a testament to the power and ruthlessness of the man’s uncle. “ We must move swiftly,” the man was perfectly alone as always and seemed unconcerned with the voice in his head, on the contrary he took the voice at its word and began to run far and fast from the sight of the burning village. “Rest here tonight,” it was a suggestion not an order and the man took it as such continuing his run until the sun began to rise.
“ Sir there is no sigh of him or the item, both seem to have eluded us again.” A tall man with cold features and a swollen shut eye scowled as best he could, the effect was terrifying. “ Captain your will find him or the consequences will be most severe. “ The captain nodded grimly and took his leave of the terrifying individual, he did not need to be told his mission for the last ten years had been to apprehend the elusive nephew of his king. He had attained his rank only by coming so close so many times, as such threats had no effect on him whatsoever he wanted nothing more to take this man into custody. Whatever his crime was the good captain would complete his mission and bring the obviously evil criminal to justice, by any means necessary he reminded himself looking at the burning building. He looked to his lesser “ have the men ready to break at sunrise we continue the hunt.”
“You’ve caused me more trouble than your worth you know,” said the hunted man looking disgustedly at his sword. “ I really should just hide you and be free of my dear uncle.” A powerful mental burst of energy nearly overwhelmed him “ think of the damage I could cause in the hand of that tyrant!” “ I know, I know it would just be so much easier, but it wouldn’t be right my father would be ashamed of me, the trouble he went through to put you in my hands.” “Persevere Page just continue to persevere all will be well good will prevail. Page looked dismally behind him the smoke from the innocent village was still rising, he sighed and continued to hide.
